Colormixing is a new way of working and playing with digital color. It is more intuitive and easier to grok than traditional color theory methods, because it is interactive. Colormixing presents color theory in a new way that is more easily understood, and is reinforced with hands-on eyes-on learning.
I created colormixing because I wanted a better, more intuitive and more fluid way of working with color. Traditional color methods left me cold and and uninspired, and the same goes for software color pickers, which are at best merely functional. There is a better way to work with color than the status quo of color pickers.
My study of the foundations and history of color in art + science enabled me to make the breakthrough discoveries that are the basis of original color composition and colormixing.
My background in design gave me insight into how designers work with color.
My background in fine art taught me how artists have historically worked with color, and connected me to artists and movements that feature color as a key component.
I think colormixing is fun, entertaining, exciting, interesting, engrossing, compelling, surprising.
I believe that colormixing has ‘beautility’, and that it represents a revolutionary leap in how people interact with color.
Why am I doing this? Because I found a treasure that I want to share. I found something incredible and I want to spread the word; I found a better way to work with color, and I want to share these methods. I want to share a deeper understanding that demystifies color and reveals the hidden relationships between all colors.
This blog is about telling the story of colormixing, in the hope of leading you in to learning RGB-CMY colormixing and using the Colormxr app to create with color. Enjoy!
